Candies combined in such way disappear and the player receives points. Each level features specific objectives to meet, such as obtaining specified high score or combining a predetermined number of specific candies. The game is more interesting thanks to various bonuses such as explosives which can be detonated after matching a larger number of candies in one go. These explosions can clear large parts of the level at once. The game features colorful, “cartoonish” graphics and it employs a typical free-to-play distribution model with microtransactions.

Candy Crush Soda Saga expands the ideas known from the previous installments of the series. The main objective of the game is, as always, to combine the elements found on the board into groups of at least three objects of the same type. However, this time, in addition to the candies, the game also features sodas. One of the main tasks is to use them to fill the levels. The core mechanics remain the same: player must connect colored water in the bottle with a candy that has the same color. The task must be completed within a limited number of moves. The less moves are used, the bigger the score. The game features colorful graphics similar to its predecessors.
