Gallipoli is the fourth installment of the WW1 Game Series created by Blackmill Games studio. It is a series of first-person shooters featuring a historical setting of World War I, designed for online play. The gameplay based on team battles and this time it takes us to the territories of the Middle East.

Gameplay

In terms of mechanics, this game does not differ from the previous installments of the series. We participate in team battles, having previously chosen from a variety of character classes. We can take command as an officer, provide suppressive fire as a light machine gun holder, or assist the wounded in the role of a medic.

The game made by Blackmill Games emphasizes realism, manifested in maps, dust, weapons and uniforms, both of the British Empire soldiers and the Ottoman Empire. The theater of war includes the battle for control over the titular Gallipoli beaches, the defense of key positions in Al-Kut, or charges through the deserts of lower Mesopotamia.

Gallipoli is brutal, tactical WWI combat, featuring multiple environments, solid teamwork mechanics, and a new Ottoman Front setting. The core experience of the battlefield is compelling, though it still has some technical roughness.

PlayStation Universe: 8 / 10 by John-Paul Jones

Gallipoli continues the throughline of satisfying multiplayer shooter shenanigans and a real-world historical accuracy that the WW1 Game Series has prided itself on for more than a decade. Easily twinned to real-life battles and skirmishes, each map feels appropriately authentic and the strides it makes to a greater degree of realism, together with satisfying gunplay and the new Expeditions mode all make Gallipoli the best entry in the series to date, though a rickety framerate and occasional screen tearing do tarnish the overall package a little.

TheSixthAxis: 7 / 10 by Jim Hargreaves

Gallipoli is the strongest entry in the WW1 Game Series so far. It's hardcore in its moment-to-moment gameplay but is still fairly accessible overall, giving players a wealth of class roles to choose from to help their side to victory. No two battles ever feel the same yet some will be left wanting more than a single game mode at launch, even if there is more content on the way.
