Even if it features fewer games in absolute terms, and basically no extras to speak of, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 somehow feels less “lazy” than its predecessor, even though that collection was already pretty great to begin with. The inclusion of a fully remastered Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which has never looked or played better, is worth the admission ticket alone. A remastered Ghost Babel is another fantastic addition, while the inevitable inclusion of Peace Walker rounds out the package nicely, even if, as previously mentioned, it still feels like only half of the complete Big Boss story.

The main cons of the game

  • Unnecessary Launcher: A recurring complaint is the inclusion of a launcher that users found redundant and confusing, especially since it was not present in Volume 1. Many felt it served no real purpose.
  • Mouse and Keyboard Issues: Some users experienced significant problems with mouse sensitivity in "Peace Walker," making it unplayable for those relying on keyboard and mouse controls.
  • Graphical Limitations: There were complaints about the graphics not being as upgraded as expected, with some users noting issues like black bars in widescreen and a lack of adjustable settings.

  • Desire for Additional Titles: Some fans wished for other games like "Portable Ops" and the "Acid" series to be included in the collection, feeling that it would enhance the overall offering.
  • Enhanced Compatibility Options: There were calls for better support for modern control schemes and improved graphical settings, especially for widescreen compatibility and frame rate options.

Summary

  • Overall, while the collection has been well-received for its core content and performance, the unnecessary launcher and some technical issues have led to mixed feedback from users.
