The fourth installment of the adventure game series OPUS, started back in 2015. OPUS: Prism Peak is a tale of a photographer trying to find his way home, using his camera to uncover secrets hidden by the ethereal world he wanders.
In 2015, the Taiwanese studio Sigono created an adventure game titled OPUS: The Day We Found Earth. This game was so successful that it started a series, on which the company was to focus in the following years. Each of the productions representing this cycle tells a fully independent story.
The fourth installment of this series, OPUS: Prism Peak, tells the story of a middle-aged photographer whose escape from a big metropolis to his hometown ends with a journey to an ethereal world full of secrets. The protagonist meets the spirit of a mysterious girl affected by amnesia, sensing that she should help him.
In OPUS: Prism Peak we view the events from a third-person perspective (TPP). The mountainous area that we explore during the game is inhabited by animal spirits. The tool that allows us to better understand the depicted world, to closely examine its elements and immortalize them, is the camera, which is in the hands of the protagonist.
We solve puzzles and try to find a way home. The hero also gradually gets to know his companion better and her influence may eventually change his view of the world. During the game, we conduct conversations and make choices that determine the attitude of the encountered spirits towards the protagonist. Some of them can become his friends and get closer to him if we respond to their needs. Our actions also affect how the adventure will end.
The graphic design of OPUS: Prism Peak is maintained in a manga style.

Game Ratings for OPUS: Prism Peak Video Game.
Final Weapon: 4 / 5 by Alex Patterson
OPUS: Prism Peak largely succeeds in delivering an emotional mid-life crisis tale. A few areas of the game lack in polish, but the art style has an undeniable charm. Although the story can be predictable, there's a deeply emotional narrative in OPUS: Prism Peak, and the game reminds players about how important photography can be.
DarkZero: 8 / 10 by Dominic Sheard
OPUS: Prism Peak is an atmospheric narrative adventure that blends photography-driven gameplay with a heavy story-based adventure.
NintendoWorldReport: 7 / 10 by Ted Hazell
Too many puzzles, too many metaphors, too many systems and ideas layered on top of a core loop that didn't need them. Trim some of the fat, and this is a standout. As it stands, though, it's a flawed gem.
